mango tree kitchen GAPAO is a quick-service Thai fast-food counter tucked just outside the ticket gates in Tokyo Station's underground Gransta Marunouchi mall. It is the fast-casual "kitchen" line of Mango Tree, the Bangkok fine-dining brand that opened its first Tokyo restaurant in Marunouchi back in 2002, reimagined here as a compact, street-stall-style counter for commuters. The menu centers on holy-basil chicken gapao rice with a fried egg, alongside Hainanese-style boiled chicken rice (khao man gai) and tom yum noodle soup, all built on Thai chili, fish sauce, garlic and fresh basil. A limited morning menu of gapao, rice porridge and noodle soup is served from 8:00 to 10:00 for early commuters.
