Noribun

Noribun is a tiny, no-frills gyoza stand on a busy roadside strip in Hamamatsu's Tenno-cho district, run by a husband-and-wife team behind a bare counter where the filling is hand-chopped in full view of guests. The interior is famously spartan — more improvised backroom than restaurant, packed with boxes — which only adds to its cult local following. It specializes in classic Hamamatsu-style gyoza: thin-skinned, garlic-free pan-fried dumplings, sold both to eat in and as takeout, alongside raw and frozen gyoza for home cooking and mail order. Come for the extremely low prices and consistently praised, unpretentious dumplings rather than the ambiance.
