Sagano-yu is a cafe in Arashiyama built inside a former public bathhouse from 1923, refurbished into a teahouse in 2006. Behind its spotless white facade, warm wooden furniture and exposed brick meet preserved bathhouse relics: mosaic-tiled soaking tubs, glass-block windows, an old shoe-locker cabinet, and the original cashier "bandai" counter. Large windows fill the rooms with natural light, and a small terrace occupies the spot of the old open-air bath. The kitchen serves an easygoing, globally inspired menu of pasta, Japanese-style curry, and seasonal pancakes alongside coffee, tea, and matcha, plus original "Arashiyama Cookie" souvenirs. A narrow staircase leads to a second-floor zakka shop selling handmade goods.
