Seika-rō is a Showa-era neighborhood Chinese restaurant (machi-chuka) tucked into a quiet residential street in Senda, Koto City. The dim, retro dining room with red-toned tables has a nostalgic, well-worn charm and a loyal local following of office workers and residents. The kitchen, run by a family whose son trained for over a decade at the Akasaka Prince Hotel, is known above all for its rich, sesame-forward dan dan noodles balanced with a peppery kick, alongside home-style set meals like fried rice combos, ankake (thick-sauce) fried noodles, and mapo tofu. The restaurant keeps a no-smoking policy until 1pm and still serves bottled Coca-Cola, adding to its old-school atmosphere. It regularly draws a lunchtime queue from neighbors and nearby workers who return again and again for its generous, wallet-friendly cooking.
