Yotsuya Ishingo is a century-old Chinese steamed-bun specialist founded in 1899, and this shop is its head-office direct-sales outlet next to the company's own bun factory in Sarue, Koto City. The name "Ishingo" blends an old Chinese phrase for "renewing the old into something new" with "Go," a Chinese term for a general store, reflecting its roots as a grocery business. Freshly steamed nikuman (pork buns) and anman are made on-site and sold warm through the morning, alongside shumai and a rice-and-pork chimaki wrapped in bamboo leaf. The shop is simple and functional, essentially a factory outlet counter rather than a sit-down restaurant, and is popular for takeaway. Cash only is accepted, and a limited Friday-Saturday charshu-man is offered while supplies last.
