A century-old sake shop turned kakuuchi (standing-bar) spot in a quiet Sarue backstreet, run by third-generation owner Higuchi, who spent 60 years around sake and 20 years running an izakaya in Ningyocho before opening this counter-style bar. Around 60 namazake (unpasteurized fresh sake) varieties from small regional breweries fill the fridge, and the owner hand-picks a bottle to match each guest's mood and taste. The room mixes standing and seated spots for 30-40 people, with a repurposed irori table, festival happi coats on the wall, and a giant teddy bear greeting guests at the door. Outside food is welcome, canned and dry snacks are sold at the counter, and sashimi platters can be pre-ordered a day ahead. Payment is cash-only, prepaid into a wooden collection box before drinking.
