Sandwich Upstairs occupies the second floor of the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, a bright, circular space wrapped in daylight from garden-facing windows and an open terrace overlooking the museum courtyard. Opened in 2019, this bakery-cafe piles about fifteen kinds of hearty sandwiches - from roast pork with camembert and honey to katsu, croquette, and a playful pairing of "adult" versus "kids" egg sandwiches - into soft house-style bread and baguettes. A wide drink menu of coffee, tea, matcha, and seasonal specialties rounds things out, making it a relaxed stop to unwind after the galleries or to take food for a picnic in the neighboring Kiba Park.
